It’s that time of year when the holidays are coming to an end and we start thinking about return to work, school, university, or perhaps another tertiary institution. This can be a stressful time and in all the chaos, particularly when preparing children for ‘back to school’, we often do overlook other factors that can have a significant effect on our future health and well-being.
As adults, we know it is important to have our spinal health checked but it is not always understood how equally important it is to have our children’s spinal health checked. Many pains and symptoms that present in teenage years and adulthood initiate from abnormal muscular and joint stress in our younger years. This is often due to poor posture and / or previous injury. Poor posture means the muscles and joints need to work differently, leading to more abnormal stress on the spine and soft tissues, which can lead to early and irreversible wear.
Chiropractors assess for poor posture, scoliosis, poor muscular function, poor joint motion and provide individual advice on how all members of the family can look after their spinal health and help prevent damage.
Pertinent to the start of 2024, a chiropractor can provide advice on important health related matters, such as appropriate selection and wearing of backpacks, suitable exercise and how to exercise safely, ergonomic advice for home, study, and work.
It may be of benefit to know we offer a Family Fee when three or more members are scheduled for care. Other conditions may apply, so please ask a receptionist for information about fees for families.
We wish you and your family a happy and healthy 2024 and look forward to seeing you soon.
